"Put all the snowmobile trails in Colorado end to end and they'd touch both coasts. Of course, that wouldn't be nearly as intriguing as the sense of exploration a rider gets exploring all the various networks of trails as they traverse mountains and valleys." SnoWest Magazine
Whether you are visiting during the summer or the winter, the Rifle area has many trails to explore with a motorized sports vehicle. A volunteer group from Rifle, Colorado grooms miles of trails for snowmobiling on the Flat Top Mountains. Other popular snowmobile trails can be accessed on Grand Mesa, Grass Mesa, the Roan Cliffs, East & West Divide Creek, Coulter Lake Mesa and many more.
The odds are pretty good for catching a glimpse of deer and elk in the winter evening as they head down toward warmer elevations.
4-Wheeling and ATVing trails are abundant during the summer months. Head up from the river in any part of the Rifle area and you are bound to come across trails suitable for only 4-wheel drive vehicles and some only wide enough for ATVs and dirt bikes. Enjoy speeding through fields of purple wildflowers or climbing steep terrain in Colorado's backcountry.
Trail maps are available year round at the Rifle Information Center - 200 Lions Park Circle along the Colorado River. Follow signs to the information center off of Interstate-70.
