Of course, a winter vacation to Colorado would not be complete without taking advantage of snowmobile trails located right here in Rifle. Whether you are visiting during the summer or winter seasons, the Rifle area has many trails to explore with a motorized sports vehicle. Volunteers each year grooms miles of trails for snowmobiling on within the White River National Forest. Other popular snowmobile trails that can be accessed near Rifle are: Grand Mesa, Grass Mesa, the Roan Cliff's, East & West Divide Creek, Coulter Lake Mesa and at many more.
Before your ride, make sure to register your snowmobile!
(Out-of-State residences must also purchase a "Out-of-State" snowmobile permit)

Snowmobile Safety Tips
- Never travel alone
- Tell someone your destination, route and when you plan to return
- Don't drink and ride
- Slow down, especially at night
- Keep to the right when trail riding
- Watch for skiers, snowshoers, grooming equipment & other people out enjoying the trail
- Use caution when crossing lakes & streams
- Dress appropriately & wear a helmet
- Respect private property
- Be familiar with your snowmobile; carry extra spark plugs, drive belts,tool kits, and tow rope
- Carry a survival kit with map, compass, flashlight, extra food & clothing, first-aid kit, matches, and pocket knife
